Peer Washington (support groups, free one on one coaching, referrals, housing/job support & more)

You might have heard or read about the “Narcan vending machine in Seattle”. Well Peer Seattle is the home of it. BUT that’s not all Peer has to offer. They have many different support groups, from Chronic Pain/Illness, Autism support, to Movement and Resume Building groups.

They also have many other resources. Including (but not limited to) a Family Navigator that helps loved ones of those in recovery, Housing and Job support, and a Voucher Program where they provide complimentary tickets to a variety of entertainment venues in the greater Seattle area for members and volunteers.

This amazing resource also provides one on one Peer support. A program that I (Rj) support, as a Peer Specialist I have coached folks that are in recovery. This is a free program that has changed my life. Although i am not taking on any new Peers, there are MANY amazing coaches.

More about Peer:

“Peer Seattle envisions individuals in communities connected by the shared values of health and well-being, personal development, and compassionate support of one another.”

National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (Not just for Suicide contemplation / Ideation)

Once upon a time i was in a very rough place (more like 30 upon a times). The Suicide and Crisis Helpline helped me. I called 988 and a trained rep answered and listened. When I called, i was hesitant. I was not actively suicidal, but i was actively depressed and had isolated myself from friends and loved ones.

It’s anonymous, free, and life saving.

”The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.”

Domestic Violence Support

Recently i had a friend reach out to me about his friend. She was caught in a cycle, i spent hours trying to navigate support services. It was frustrating, annoying and sad.

I couldn’t imagine trying to navigate both the abuse and trying to navigate the dead ends.

Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic (financial), psychological, or technological actions or threats of actions or other patterns of coercive behavior that influence another person within an intimate partner relationship. This includes any behaviors that intimidate, manipulate, humiliate, isolate, frighten, terrorize, coerce, threaten, blame, hurt, injure, or wound someone.”

The DV hotline is National and 24/7

This number was not a dead end.
